This failure was due to corrosion, likely caused by Santa Ana’s hard water and a slow leak that had stripped the brass of its protective zinc layer, weakening the metal over time. To repair it, we replaced the old assembly with a new ABS waste and overflow, which is more resistant to corrosion and more cost-effective than brass. After installation, we filled the tub to the overflow level to thoroughly check for leaks. Everything tested perfectly, and the repair was completed successfully.
